Poker hands Texas Holdem ranking

Texas Holdem poker is undoubtedly the best-known form of poker. There are many rules that come into play in Texas Holdem and one of those rules is, of course, which hands you can have. Each player has a hand, now the question is of course who has the best hand and thus wins the pot. A ranking has been made to determine who wins. There are 10 possible hand combinations that matter. Below are the poker hand combinations explained from the strongest hand to the weakest hand. The highest value card is an Ace and the lowest value card is a Two.

Royal Flush

Nothing is stronger than this combination. A royal flush almost never occurs. The combination is a straight flush of 10 to Ace, that is, 10-JQKA of the same suit (for example, all of the spades).

Straight Flush

Just below the royal flush is the straight flush. A straight flush is five consecutive cards of the same suit. For example 4-5-6-7-8 of clubs.

Four of a kind (Quads)

Four of a kind also known as quads. If you have quads then you have four cards of the same rank of each suit plus the highest card still available. This could be, for example, 8-8-8-8-A.

Full House

You have a full house when you have three cards of equal rank and two cards of equal rank. For example KKK-7-7.

Flush

A flush is when you have five of the same suit of cards. It does not matter what the order or height of these cards are, as long as they are five of the same suit, for example, five cards of the kind heart. Note, if two players have a flush, the flush whose card has the highest value wins. For example, player 1 has 3-6-9-10-K of hearts, and player 2 has: 3-6-9-YES of hearts, then player 2 wins because he has the highest card.

Straight (Street)

A straight is a series of five consecutive cards that are not of the same suit. For example, 4-5-6-7-8 is a street, provided they are not of the same kind. Note that an Ace can be used as a connection to the king, but also as the start of the straight for the 2.

Three of a kind (Trips)

Trips of tea of a kind are a combination of three cards with the same value and two cards with different values that also have the highest value. For example 8-8-8-KA.

Two pair

In two pairs you have a combination of two pairs, with the fifth card being the highest card. A pair is a duo of cards of the same rank, for example, JJ. If you have two of these pairs, you have two pairs. For example JJ-9-9-A.

One pair

One pair is a duo of cards of the same rank, for example, KK. The combination is completed with the three highest cards that are still available. For example KKA-6-9.

    High card

The last option is the high card. With a high card, it is not possible to combine the cards. An example of this is AK-3-5-7 of different kinds. No combination has been made here.
